Instructions For Use: BEST-TEST Rubber Cement

BEST-TEST Rubber Cement: BEST-TEST is a liquified, natural rubber adhesive. It is used for permanent and temporary bonds of paper and paper products. BEST-TEST applies smoothly and easily. Especially important for the student, it is very forgiving and readily cleaned-up. No wrinkling, curling or shrinking, BEST-TEST will also not stain. Commonly used in art and graphics, it has been the rubber cement of choice for over 50 years.

BEST-TEST Rubber Cement is applied in three ways:

  1. Dry mounting has the most permanence. Cover both surfaces to be joined with a coat of BEST-TEST and let dry. Align and place together, don't press as a little movement is possible before they are burnished. When alignment is critical, a slip sheet can be used between the coated surfaces. Dried BEST-TEST will not stick to clean paper.
  2. Wet mounting permits more alignment but does not have the permanence of dry mounting. Apply BEST-TEST to one surface only and position before the rubber cement dries. After alignment, the bond can be improved by lifting one half at a time to dry then burnish.
  3. A combination of wet and dry mounting improves on the wet mounting bond and allows some alignment freedom. Coat one surface and let dry then coat other surface position before the BEST-TEST dries.

Use an old telephone book or stack of newspapers, when applying BEST-TEST to a number of pieces.

Excess or misplaced BEST-TEST can be removed easily when dry. Simply rub into a ball with our PIK-UP or your finger. Easy removal with no damage to the paper makes BEST-TEST an effective resist frisket. It will protect an area while another area is being worked on, i.e. a painting. Coat area concerned about with BEST-TEST and paint around it. When the paint is dry, remove the BEST-TEST.

Instructions For Use: BESTINE & One Coat

BESTINE Solvent: BESTINE is used to mix with BEST-TEST Rubber Cement when you need a thinner working consistency. Paper products bonded with BEST-TEST can be separated with BESTINE. Carefully lift one corner and squirt a little BESTINE under the paper. Keep applying BESTINE as you peel the pieces apart. Let both surfaces dry completely and clean with our PIK-UP.

Cover BESTINE and BEST-TEST when not in use as the solvent will evaporate.

BEST-TEST One Coat: ONE COAT is a repositionable rubber cement. It is applied to one surface and when dry will remain tacky for repeated positioning. Tack strength is controlled by the amount applied. Like BEST-TEST Rubber Cement, ONE COAT is used in graphic arts. However, it is also popular in offices and schools for adhering paper, cardboard, posters, laminated signs, etc. on walls, blackboards, and white boards then moving them around for planning and visualizing.

When numerous pieces are to be coated from a single sheet, coat the entire sheet letting the ONE COAT dry. Place on a glossy surface like glass then cut the pieces out and position. Since ONE COAT remains tacky and will stick to most anything, care must be taken in handling coated work.

Use BESTINE for thinning ONE COAT and cover ONE COAT when not in use.

Read all container labels before using BEST-TEST Rubber Cement, ONE COAT and BESTINE.
